| I've used this product on my face several times and am satisfied with its efficiency. I hold the upper lip area taut and apply the tool in a circular motion, with pressure to the skin. The first time used, there was a little irritation afterwards that lasted a few hours, nothing visible. I soothed it with lotion. The hair was gone. It grew back, but thinner. I repeat the process about every 2 weeks with no irritation at all. It appears the hair comes off or out of the skin in invisible pieces, and accumulates on the tool surface. Holding the tool over the sink, I rub the tool surface with my thumb in a circular motion, and I see tiny bits of what appear to be dark hair fall into my white sink (they're hard to see). I used a battery electric shaver once and the hair grew back rough. It is fast and works for me. I did try it on my legs and it takes too long so I stick to the razor. I hated the wax treatment on my face. I use it on the whole face surface with no irritation. |
Slightly better than shaving...

I used this only once. I first used it on my arm (I have fine hair on my arm) the hair was perfectly and easily removed, my skin was smooth and I liked it a lot. Then I used it on my legs (I have coarse thick hair on my legs) the hair was also easily removed, however, my skin wasn't as smooth as my arm because there was a very short part of the coarse hair still on the skin as the smooth away do not remove hair from its roots of course; it only removes what's on the surface. My skin is not sensitive but I felt slight irritation after use but I was fine after few hours. I think it won't be good if you have sensitive skin. I didn't use it on my face and I don't think I'll. I won't even use it again because my regular hair removal way is much better (I use Egyptian waxing [Halawa]).
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Quick
- Hair grows slower than in shaving
- Leaves your skin smooth if you have fine hair
- Good for emergency cases when you discover that you just don't have time and need to get rid of the unwanted hair.
Cons:
- Doesn't remove hair from roots, only dissolves the hair on the surface
- Hair grows thicker than it was (but better than shaving)
- Hair grows faster than waxing
- Not as effective on coarse hair, it does remove it and it looks good. However, skin is not smooth
- Not good for sensitive skin
I recommend it if your already use shaving, as this will be slightly better and if you don't have sensitive skin.
I do not recommend it if you already use waxing, which is better or if you have sensitive skin!

I bought this at a drug store, and the first time I used it on my arm and thought "wow.. this could really work!" .. but after about 5 minutes, it stopped working. Smooth away is basically a very find grade of sand paper. Honestly. It's so fine, that after using it- it feels like you have tiny pieces of glass in your skin because it rubs off on you and gets stuck. Kind of like what insulation feels like on your skin after working with it(most women probably don't know what that feels like, but it sucks!).
The deal is, the pad that you use has to be brand new, and it'll work for a little while. It will leave you smooth (although itchy and irritated) but from what I found, it takes a really long time to even get one leg done. I'm not talking 15 minutes.. I mean like, 45 minutes. FOR ONE LEG! You have to go over spots multiple times, and it's really just more trouble than it's worth.
Also, ladies, if you have fine hair on your face anywhere, DO NOT USE THIS for it. I know the commercial says you can.. but don't! It is extremely irritating afterward. Like I said, it really does feel like tiny tiny pieces of glass in your skin. It is sand paper after all! |
didn't work
